GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Working under the direct supervision of Leadership the Quality Care Promoter supports both Quality Improvement and dental assisting functions within the dental department. This role includes performing clinical support duties, tracking patient outcomes, and promoting increased access to care. This position ensures efficient operations while upholding CCH’s mission to deliver high-quality, integrated care to underserved populations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensures all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner.

2. Collects patients’ medical history and vitals including blood pressure and pulse.

3. Assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures for children and adult patients.

4. Takes legible digital dental radiographs (x-rays); takes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth) and dental procedures.

5. Advises patients, parents or guardians concerning diet, hygiene, disease prevention; provides health/wellness advice to patients based on office protocols and the dentist’s recommendations.

6. Effectively communicates with other health care providers or community resources to provide comprehensive, all-encompassing care.

7. Educates patients/families and the community about oral health related disease and prevention and self-management of acute and chronic dental conditions; recommends interventions to modify behaviors associated with health risks.

8. Teaches patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health including, tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling.

9. Performs office management tasks including those necessary for scheduling and confirming patients, entering documentation into patients’ records per doctor’s request, the authorization of treatment, insurance processing and claims billing.

10. Prepares and sterilizes instruments and equipment as an infection control measure.

11. Documents, monitors and follows the routine upkeep and measures of the biological monitoring of equipment, waterline maintenance of operatories, OSHA Compliance and biohazardous waste management and other documentation relating to Dental measures.

12. Provides patients with instructions for oral care following surgery and other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).

13. Assists in the provision of direct patient care in all dental services including restorative, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics and oral surgery.

14. Participates in a multidisciplinary care team, identifies problems, and provides feedback to team members regarding a solution.

15. Assists with the workflow of the clinic as needed including registration and rooming of patients and the completion of intake paperwork.

16. Orders and keeps documentation of dental supply orders, invoices, work orders, etc.

17. Maintain an organized inventory supply system.

18. Ensures continuous flow of communication with the Chief Dental Officer to enhance the quality of service to our patients.

19. Take part in performance improvement activities such as Dental staff team huddles, quality assurance audits, continuing education and Patient-Centered Dental Home processes.

20. Participates in meetings/conferences and continuing education and demonstrates a genuine desire to develop strategies for improved clinic operations and high-level patient care.

21. Ensures certification remains current and valid.

22. Assures patients’ rights are being always maintained.

23. Attends training and learning opportunities that expand content knowledge and best practices.

24. Increases Dental metrics YOY for the Dental Department and document for reporting.

25. Complete and create new quality improvement reports on the metrics in Dental Department.

26. Documents the Dental Dashboards, including Quality and keep it updated with current outcomes.

27. Works on special projects within the scope of dental care as specified by Leadership.

28. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED equivalent required
Five (5) years of clinical Dental experience required
Certified Dental Assistant highly preferred
Data entry experience is highly preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and systems
Knowledge of the techniques of receiving calls and making appointments
